Is Jax a certified mechanic?
No. Jax is an AI assistant that provides educational and DIY guidance. HoodHero cannot physically inspect a vehicle and is not a substitute for a qualified mechanic, recovery service or safety inspection.
Do I need an OBD-II scanner?
No. You can diagnose through conversation without hardware. Supported ELM327 equipment can add fault-code context when you choose to use the OBD-II beta.
Can HoodHero identify my exact car?
You can enter vehicle details manually. VIN and registration lookups are available in supported regions, subject to availability, membership and fair-use limits. Always confirm critical fitment and specification information.
Where do I buy or restore membership?
Membership purchases and restores currently happen through the iOS or Android app. Web checkout is not available yet.
Who can use the Mechanic Desk?
The browser Mechanic Desk is currently a UK small-garage beta for eligible users with an active HoodHero membership and a supported account region and language.
Can I use my mobile account on the web?
Yes. Sign into the web app with the same Google or Apple account used for your HoodHero membership.
What does the Mechanic Desk store?
Depending on the features you use, it can store workshop profile information, customers, vehicles, appointments, jobs, notes, quotes, invoices, proof media and communication history in your HoodHero cloud workspace.
Does HoodHero sell my personal information?
No. HoodHero does not sell personal information in the traditional sense or use customer/workshop records for third-party advertising. See the privacy and cookie policies for details.
