Timothy Foster trading as Tazmo Labs is the operator and data controller for HoodHero. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the HoodHero mobile application, website or UK Mechanic Desk.
1. Information we process
Account and membership
Account identifiers, name, email address, authentication provider, membership status, product identifiers and entitlement information used to sign you in and provide paid features. Apple and Google process payment details; HoodHero does not store full payment-card information.
Vehicle and diagnostic information
Vehicle details, VINs, registration marks, MOT or inspection information, odometer data, symptoms, diagnostic conversations, photos, audio or dictated text, fault codes, repair plans, completed work, costs, receipts and documents you choose to provide.
Workshop information
Business profile and team details, customers, customer contact details, vehicles, appointments, jobs, assignments, notes, quotes, invoices, payment references, communication history, proof photos, signatures and repair records entered by an authorised workshop user.
Technical and preference information
Region, language, currency, units, app settings, device or browser information, security and App Check tokens, diagnostic logs, crash information and service usage needed to operate and protect HoodHero.
Website analytics
If you consent, Google Analytics processes page views, approximate location derived from IP address, device/browser information and interactions with product, store, web-app and contact links. Analytics remains off until you accept it and can be disabled again through Cookie settings.
2. How we use information
- Provide account access, membership and cloud synchronisation.
- Generate AI-assisted diagnosis, repair and workflow output.
- Perform vehicle, VIN, registration and MOT lookups.
- Store and present vehicle, repair, customer and workshop records.
- Create and deliver requested quotes, invoices, proof packs and communications.
- Provide support, investigate errors and improve reliability.
- Prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access.
- Meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.
- Measure marketing-site use when you have consented.
3. Legal bases
Depending on the activity, we process information to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests in providing and securing the Service, comply with legal obligations, or act on consent. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time.
Workshops using HoodHero are responsible for determining their own lawful basis and giving required notices when they enter customer and employee information. For that information, HoodHero may act as a service provider or processor on the workshop’s instructions.
4. Service providers and recipients
Information is shared only as needed with providers that support the Service, which may include:
- Google Gemini for AI-assisted prompts and responses.
- Google Firebase for authentication, cloud database, storage, functions, security and crash reporting.
- RevenueCat, Apple and Google for membership and purchase status.
- DVSA, NHTSA and other vehicle-data providers for requested vehicle lookups.
- Resend or another configured delivery provider for workshop emails users choose to send.
- Google Analytics for consented marketing-site measurement.
- Amazon and other merchants when you choose to open an external product link.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect users and the Service, or in connection with a business reorganisation subject to appropriate safeguards.
5. International transfers
Some providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where required, transfers rely on recognised adequacy decisions, contractual safeguards or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
6. Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, including providing account history, resolving disputes, meeting legal and accounting obligations and preventing abuse. Some mobile data can remain only on your device; premium and workshop information may be stored in your cloud workspace.
Account deletion requests remove or anonymise information unless continued retention is legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend claims. Backups and provider logs can take additional time to expire.
7. Security
We use safeguards including encrypted network transport, authenticated access, signed membership state, Firebase security rules, App Check and access controls. No system is completely secure; protect your account and notify us if you suspect unauthorised use.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent and complain to a supervisory authority. UK users can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Send requests to support@hoodhero.co.uk. We may need to verify identity and authority before acting, particularly for workshop customer information.
9. Children
HoodHero is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Vehicle repair features should be used only with suitable adult supervision and competence.
10. Affiliate disclosure
Some recommended parts, tools or consumables use affiliate links. HoodHero may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links do not permit merchants to access your HoodHero diagnostic or workshop records.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Service or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to support@hoodhero.co.uk.
